Dragonswood Bluff is taking over the Leonardo Hotel in Cardiff for a weekend of social deduction, games and adventures. With space for 200 of your friends we’ll backstab, murder and lie to each other. There will be multiple rooms available so you won’t have people struggling to be heard over other games going on.

The hit social deduction game by The Pandemonium Institute “Blood On The Clocktower” will be at the centre of this Welsh Weekender, where you will need a level head to survive. A classic game of good vs evil, in a similar vein to the likes of Werewolf, Among Us, Secret Hitler, Avalon, as well as the hit BBC Show The Traitors. If you’re good, you’ve got to work together with those around you to find the evil team, whilst remembering that not everyone will be telling you the truth. If you’re evil, your job is to cause chaos and confusion while assisting your demon. For a full breakdown of how the game is played,   watch this video.

We have some scheduled events and activities, and then attendees will be organising other games throughout the weekend.

Kate Jones, creator of Fragments of Madness is joining us to run sessions on Saturday. Fragments of Madness is a cooperative narrative deduction game set in the 1920s world of Howard Philip Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. The fictional sleepy university town of Arkham, Massachusetts, is home to the Miskatonic University and its Orne Library, a repository of arcane knowledge. You are protégés of the library’s erudite and principled head librarian, Professor Henry Armitage, an expert in the mysteries of the Mythos. You will use your wits and deductive skills to solve a series of eldritch mysteries and foil the plans of the entities and minions of the Mythos.

Other activities and features happening over the weekend include:

• a massive 50 player game of SPIES hosted by Nicky
• a cosplay contest
• the Saturday evening quiz and kareoke
• on-site food and drinks all weekend

The event will run from Friday 17th July to Sunday 19th July for weekend ticket holders, and there’s a limited number of day tickets available too.

This year we have seven rooms – the board game and quiet zone is downstairs by the front entrance. Then upstairs there are six more rooms, some of which are suitable for multiple games at once.

During the quiz and karaoke on Saturday we’ll have access to a private bar upstairs. The rest of the time, you’re welcome to relax in the bar area on the ground floor.
